Now it's been finished and currently en route to my customer, I can finally... OFFICIALLY... unveil my latest project and service; Tommy's for Tommies... or Hand-made Heroes.
Tommy's for Tommies, are hand-made customised Military figures entirely made by myself... They're also great additions to my growing stop-motion model-making portfolio.
The name Tommy's for Tommies, comes from my original stop-motion animation puppet, Tommy, from my award-winning animated short, "A War to End No Wars", which was made in memory of my Grandfather, who served in the RAF during WWII, and Great Grandfather, who served with the Section Sanitaire Anglaise for the French on behalf of the British Red Cross in Verdun, France during WWI.
During the Summer of 2021, I received a request from a serving military officer, asking if something similar could be made for his family... And so spawned the idea for Tommy's for Tommies, as a personal keepsake for families and friends of serving military personnel... It doesn't stop there either; I am extending this business for emergency services too!
The models are made around a basic stop-motion armature (hand-made in my studio), with the heads being "caricaturised" on paper (or the iPad), before being sculpted in 3D on my PC, 3D printed (in the workshop), airbrushed and then being fully customised with hand-cut and sewn uniforms, including patches and medals, then presented in a hand-made display box!
